Ellen Hood
Associate Marriage & Family Therapist | AMFT #160759
Supervised by Sara Capella, LMFT #84296

Some seasons of life rearrange everything: a cancer diagnosis, the death of a parent or partner, caring for someone with dementia, becoming a mother, the kids leaving home, retiring from a sport that was your identity. Even good changes can leave you wondering who you are now. Ellen specializes in exactly these moments.
Ellen's top focus areas are grief, cancer and chronic illness, and women's issues. The last includes pregnancy, postpartum depression, motherhood, and menopause. She also supports caregivers, older adults, and people facing burnout, career questions, anxiety, depression, or the uncertainty of what comes next. She works with individuals, couples, and families.
Her work draws on Narrative Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Narrative Therapy helps you step back from the story a hard season has written about you, so you can decide how the next part goes. CBT adds practical tools for handling the thoughts and feelings that come up along the way. For clients who want it, Ellen also offers Christian counseling that integrates faith in a gentle, client-led way.
Ellen earned her M.A. in Psychology from UMass Global.
