Sara Capella
Founder & Clinical Director | LMFT #84296

Sara has served as a therapist in the Conejo Valley for nearly two decades. Her experience has shown her that successful therapy begins with finding the right clinician—not simply any clinician. That belief is central to Blvd Counseling, where she has assembled a team with varied strengths so each client can be matched with a therapist who genuinely fits their needs.
Sara works with individuals, couples, and families from adolescence through older adulthood. She specializes in helping families navigate divorce and separation, including co-parenting, custody transitions, and court-mandated therapy, and supports both parents and the children and teens affected by these changes. She connects especially well with teens and young adults, helping them reduce anxiety and depression, strengthen self-esteem, and manage difficult transitions. Her other areas of focus include trauma, grief, women's issues, ADHD, attachment and adoption, and life transitions. She also provides affirming care for LGBTQIA+ clients and people in open or polyamorous relationships.
Warm, open-minded, and direct, Sara offers practical, solution-focused care while exploring a client's history when it helps clarify present concerns. She supports couples and individuals in managing conflict, improving communication, deepening friendship and intimacy, and replacing destructive patterns with more meaningful ways of relating. Her work also helps clients strengthen family and community connections, foster personal or spiritual growth, and develop a shared sense of purpose. She draws from CBT, mindfulness-based cognitive therapy, narrative therapy, Motivational Interviewing, compassion-focused therapy, and family systems approaches, with the goal of providing useful tools for a happier, more fulfilling life in a safe space where clients can be themselves.
As founder and Clinical Director, Sara supervises and mentors Blvd's associate therapists, ensuring that every clinician benefits from her years of experience. She holds a master's degree from California Lutheran University.
