Tommy Toraya
Associate Marriage & Family Therapist | AMFT #159542
Supervised by Sara Capella, LMFT #84296

Sometimes life piles up faster than we can sort through it. A hard experience keeps replaying, the pressure at school or work won't let up, or that inner voice has become harsher than anyone else's. Tommy helps people slow down, make sense of what's happening, and find a steadier way forward.
Tommy works with children as young as six, teens, adults, and older adults, and he also works with families. His focus areas are self-esteem, trauma and PTSD, and stress. He also often helps clients with anxiety, depression, anger, family conflict, school struggles, life transitions, and men's issues, as well as gaming and screen habits that have started to take over.
His work is grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which looks at how thoughts, feelings, and actions feed into one another. He blends it with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and a strengths-based, person-centered style. In practice, that means he'll listen first, follow your pace, and help you build tools that fit your real life rather than a textbook.
For younger clients, Tommy works to make therapy feel approachable instead of intimidating. For parents, he aims to be a partner in understanding what their child needs.
Tommy earned his Master's in Counseling Psychology from California Lutheran University and his B.A. from Cal State Northridge.
